Just Call Me the Word Nerd

In life I believe that every individual has a specific purpose to fulfill. I also agree that this purpose cannot not be found and achieved in the course of a day, or a month, or a year, or even a decade. Because, let's face it. Rome was not built in a single day or even one business month. I believe it took a lifetime, possibly even longer, for the Romans to establish themselves as the new kids on the block. Just like the Romans, (Albeit marginally more advanced and--dare I say it?--a tiny bit more hygiene-conscious) I believe we as human beings must strive to fulfill our purpose our entire lifetime, never straying from the path set before us by Almighty God.
Over the course of the sixteen years of my life, I've discovered that I have not made the tiniest dent in fulfilling my purpose. Although, I do believe I know what that may be, which in my experience places me leaps and bounds in front of the competition. (You know who you are...) Hey, even considering what God has planned for my life seems like a pretty good starting point.
What, might you ask, do I believe is my calling? Words. I feel I've been given the gift of words. Sure, I may not always utilize that gift to the fullest extent; just ask my parents, they'll be glad to agree. But the gift of writing, more specifically, has been given to me. When I write, I feel as if I'm in control of something for once. Writing allows me to escape for just a moment into a world of my own creating, and to me that's a pretty awesome super power. (But mind reading wouldn't be all that bad, either. I'm just saying.)
I think that words are powerful, a force to be reckoned with. When used correctly, they can move mountains, overthrow empires, possibly change the world. But I think that the true, relentless power of words comes from the ability to connect with a single person, to force them to pause for a fraction of a moment and think. If my words only affect a single person in my entire lifetime, I'll consider it a success. I never said we all had wildly huge purposes--just that we each had one. And no matter how small, I know in my heart that every single person on earth has a purpose just as important and vital to humanity as the next.
So, just call me the Word Nerd.
